Games of Art, a book of games, includes seven classic
games all designed by
Sid Sackson. Each game can be played in 15 to 60 minutes by 2, 3, or 4
players (ages 8+), each player wielding one
of the four colored dry erase markers provided in the package. Each page
is laminated and fully erasable ensuring great replayability. Gryphon
Games is confident that you will find each of these games challenging
and fun as well as educational! Each game includes a short biography of
the title artist, followed by short, illustrated rules (less than one
page per game) and a full-page diagram of the game. Teachers and
players are encouraged to copy the diagrams so that everyone can play
these games simultaneously. Included are games named after and
reminiscent of the styles of the iconic modern artists Piet Mondrian,
Paul Klee, Joan Miro, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Jean Arp, Ferdinand
Springer, and Victor Vasarely.
WARNING: Each time you play the game you will be creating a work of art that you will be tempted to frame and hang on your wall!
When Sid Sackson passed away in
2002, the world lost one of the most creative and prolific game
designers of all time. In his distinguished life, Sid Sackson created a
myriad of truly brilliant games, remarkable for their ingenuity and
playability. Over 50 Sid Sackson titles have already been published.
Gryphon Games has dedicated itself to the mission of reprinting many of
these now out-of-print masterpieces. It is also combing the archive of
unpublished prototypes he left behind for yet-to-be-printed
masterpieces.
Games of Art, a book of games, was previously published as a collection of games in book form as
Beyond Tic Tac Toe (1975). Gryphon has re-published it in 2014 as Games of Art to honor Sid Sackson's legacy.
